How to convert PNG to WebP
- Add one or multiple static PNG files (up to 20, 25 MiB each and 128 MiB combined).
- Choose Lossy and adjust quality, or select true Lossless WebP. Transparency is preserved in both modes.

Lossy vs lossless WebP
Lossy WebP can change visible colors to reduce bytes. True lossless WebP uses a VP8L bitstream and must reproduce the decoded PNG RGBA pixels exactly. Neither mode guarantees a smaller file than its PNG source.
PNG transparency stays available
Fully transparent, semi-transparent, and opaque decoded PNG pixels keep their alpha values in both output modes. Lossy mode does not promise to retain hidden RGB values under fully transparent pixels.

Will my PNG transparency remain?
Yes. Lossy and lossless WebP output preserve decoded alpha values. Lossy encoding may change visible RGB colors.
Is PNG to WebP lossless?
Choose Lossless for true VP8L output that reproduces the decoded PNG RGBA pixels exactly. Lossy mode can change pixels even at quality 100.
Can I convert several PNG files at once?
Yes. Add up to 20 files, 25 MiB each and 128 MiB combined. They are validated separately and converted sequentially.

Will WebP always be smaller than PNG?
No. The measured output can be larger, especially in lossless mode or when the PNG was already optimized.
Can I convert an APNG?
No. Animated PNG is rejected so the tool does not silently export only one frame.
Is my PNG uploaded?
No. Validation, decoding, and WebP encoding run locally in your browser.
