Background Extender
Place portraits, products, or landscapes on a larger canvas using real local Solid or Blur output, or inspect the gated AI mode.
Category: ai-recast · Priority: P0
Internal preview
AI generation is not yet publicly available. Uploads and controls can be inspected; local Crop, Fit, Solid, and Blur modes remain usable.
This mode runs locally in your browser and does not upload image bytes.
Solid, Blur, and AI
Solid adds a controlled canvas color. Blur renders a cover background from the same image and a clear contained foreground. AI prepares outer space for scene generation.
Portraits, products, and landscapes
Solid is predictable for product layouts; Blur works well for social and portrait framing; AI aims to continue complex scenes.
Clear foreground over real blurred pixels
Blur is rendered into output pixels with Canvas—it is not a CSS screenshot. The foreground is drawn afterward and remains clear.
Background limitations
Blur can emphasize edge colors and Solid cannot invent scene detail. AI backgrounds are variable and may alter subject boundaries.
Privacy by mode
Solid and Blur remain entirely local. Only enabled AI mode sends a prepared image and optional scene description to Replicate.
Background extender FAQ
Do Solid and Blur upload images?
No. Both produce real output pixels locally in your browser.
Is Blur only a visual preview?
No. The blurred background and clear foreground are encoded into the downloaded JPG, PNG, or WebP.
Is AI background generation public?
No. It remains an internal preview behind explicit server gates.
Will AI always preserve the subject?
Subject preservation is instructed, but exact edges and details cannot be guaranteed.
