What “50KB or less” means
50KB means a maximum of 50,000 decimal bytes, not an exact output size. A 47.8KB file reaches the target.
Why quality is searched before dimensions
Recommended first tests encoded quality at the starting dimensions. It reduces dimensions only if the file cannot fit the 50KB limit without extreme codec settings.
Keep original dimensions
This mode never changes pixel width or height. It searches the full JPEG/WebP quality range or original-size PNG palettes, and may report 50KB not reached.

Does 50KB mean exactly 50,000 bytes?
No. Success means the actual output is 50,000 bytes or less.
Will every image reach 50KB?
No. Some images remain above 50KB within the available quality, palette, or dimension limits. The result is clearly marked not reached.
What happens if my image is already under 50KB?
The original file is used byte for byte. Its metadata and dimensions stay unchanged.

Why did PicRecast reduce the dimensions?
Recommended tries the starting dimensions first. It may proportionally downsize only when the file cannot fit at a practical quality floor.
Can I keep the original dimensions?
Yes. Choose Keep original dimensions; some files may then remain above 50KB.
Why is 50KB easier than 20KB?
It provides 30,000 more bytes for detail, colors, or pixels. The result still depends on the source.
What quality will PicRecast use?
It searches real encodings automatically and reports the final JPEG or WebP quality. There is no pre-processing quality slider.
Does PicRecast change formats?
No. JPEG stays JPEG, PNG stays PNG, and static WebP stays WebP. Use Image Converter when you need a different format.
Can PNG reach 50KB?
Often, but not always. Lossless and adaptive color-reduction candidates are measured, with proportional downscaling only in Recommended.
Does WebP transparency remain?
Yes. Static WebP alpha is retained, and PNG transparency remains available.
What if my form also requires a specific width and height?
